Ingredients  

  • 1 1/2 lbs fresh green beans trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and just tender, then drain immediately.

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Sprinkle in the garlic and stir for 10 to 15 seconds until fragrant.

  • Add the green beans to the skillet and season with the salt and black pepper.
  • Toss and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until glossy and evenly coated.
  • Remove from the heat and serve warm.

Notes

Nutrition values are an estimate. Do not overcook the blanch; 3 to 4 minutes keeps the beans crisp-tender. Watch the garlic closely so it does not burn. To make ahead, blanch and chill the beans, then toss in the garlic butter just before serving.
