Ingredients

  • 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker in a single layer.
Seasoned breasts in the crock, dusted with paprika and covered in broth
  • Sprinkle evenly with the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Pour the chicken broth around the sides of the chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shreddable.
  • Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks.

  • Stir the chicken back into the cooking juices and leave on low for another 30 minutes.
  • Serve on brioche buns or use for meal prep. Add BBQ sauce if desired and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

Nutrition values are an estimate. Always start with thawed chicken, never frozen, and keep the crock between half and two thirds full so it heats evenly. After shredding, leave the meat in its juices on low for another 30 minutes, which is the step that keeps it moist.
