You may use 1 packet of regular or low-sodium taco seasoning mix. You can also make a homemade version from scratch: just mix 1 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, ¼ tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp dried onion, 1tsp dried oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.
Catalina dressing is perfect for a Doritos taco salad, but people also use basic French dressing to combine all ingredients. Ready-to-use salad dressing is ok, but homemade is so easy and better that you should give it a try. Everything you need is to combine all ingredients in a blender, pour into a jar and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days. As this easy salad asks for about ½ cup Catalina recipe, the remaining dressing may be used in the future.
Toss salad just before serving, considering both lettuce and Doritos wilt quickly.
